Introduction

From Ware to Limehouse Basin is only 42km (26mi). However there must be over 1000km of walks and cycleways. If you live nearby you must pinch yourself that the facilities are so good. There are more lakes than you can shakes a stick at and more wooded areas than you can shake a lumberjack at. As well as hundreds of sweet little parks and well maintained open areas there are nine places of designated special interest:

    1) Waltham Abbey Gardens 2) Myddleton House 3) Rye Gatehouse 4) Capel Manor 5) Forty Hall 6) Broxbourne Mill 7) Three Mills Island 8) Markfield Beam Engine Museum and 9) Royal Gunpowder Mill .

The map below also shows bus numbers and East Anglia Railways stations. If you have to drive please respect the facilities and use the car parks which fund conservation. It is not worth me relisting everything that the excellent website below describes including this map which is downloadable.

Spelling

Yes you will have noticed that even the Lea Valley tourism leaflets spell the name both ways, ie Lee Valley even on the same page ! I have used Google’s spelling.
