This cycle ride is one I have done three times -twice with my son when he was 13 and 15. The reason is simple: its distance is filled with historically significant and yet beautiful places. However I must warn you that, other than the first 8km, cyclist will be at significant risk of running pedestrians over. You must SLOW DOWN in there places. Therefore, that whilst traversing parts of the route anytime, I suggest that you attempt the full route in Spring or Autumn because of the SHEER NUMBER OF TOURISTS ENCOUNTERED when the weather is hot.

Cycling

We took the outward route itself without any restrictions. It is all downhill and in places you can cycle quite fast but do take care especially if you’re not a swimmer ! We returned by Docklands and Overground train after 7pm. As ever, you may take your bikes on trains but please observe the TfL Rules.  Whilst no part of the route is strenuous at all is is a long way and, given meal breaks in pubs, or even if you take sandwiches, you should not leave Greenford later than 9am - better 8am ! This presents a problem if you have to get there by train. We stopped a lot. We diverted off the route a lot. It depends on a lot of factors but if there were no slow downs you could probably make it in 3 hours - but don’t. You will regret it. Do bring your camera !

This subpage is badly incomplete so I will update it and add pictures by end July 2020.
